Ranking Republicans on congressional tax writing committees have requested an investigation into “the scope and severity of fraudulent activity in COVID unemployment insurance programs.” Specifically, they would like the Government Accountability Office to “conduct a complementary, targeted review,” according to a letter sent by the lawmakers to the U.S. Comptroller General. They want several federal agencies, including the IRS, to participate in a probe. “Fraud in COVID unemployment programs has been extensively documented and goes well beyond any pedestrian fraud or improper payments traditionally seen in federal programs,” the letter states. They request a response by Dec. 31, 2021.  Call or visit our website for more information!  www.mjscpa.com/
