The IRS faces COVID-19-related hurdles again, placing a burden on many taxpayers and tax practitioners. Problems include lack of funding and staff, and a daunting backlog of returns. Tax organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) have joined forces to urge changes on behalf of taxpayers. “…The IRS is preparing for the worst filing season” with taxpayers facing “enormous challenges” an AICPA official explained. Changes the tax groups are seeking include penalty waivers, suspension of compliance activity and halting of some notices that, by statute, go out to taxpayers automatically. Some of the changes will require Congress to act, the IRS stated.  Call or visit our website for more information!  www.mjscpa.com/
