The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) has issued its “Semiannual Report to Congress: April 1, 2020 – September 30, 2020.” According to the report, TIGTA’s Office of Audit completed 53 audits, and its Office of Investigations completed 1,123 investigations. The combined audit and investigative efforts resulted in the recovery, protection and identification of monetary benefits totaling more than $15 billion, the report noted. “The coronavirus pandemic is now one of the most critical challenges confronting the IRS and TIGTA,” said J.
